Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co has booked an order for six petrochemical carriers in a deal worth KRW 208bn ($185m).
The South Korean shipbuilder said the 25,000-dwt vessels will be delivered by the end of January 2021, according to a regulatory filing
Hyundai Mipo, which is an affiliate of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co, declined to disclose the identity of the counter-party.
This is Hyundai Mipo’s second major contract this month following an order for a single 30,000-cbm LNG carrier placed at the start of December.
Norwegian shipowner Knutsen agreed to pay $77m for the newbuilding, which includes an option for a second sister vessel. Delivery is set for early 2021.
These latest orders take Hyundai Mipo’s newbuilding haul for the year-to-date to 63 ships and its order backlog to 121 vessels.
The shipbuilder had an annual newbuilding order target of $3bn, but looks to have come up short with sales so far reaching just over $2.1bn.
