An order for a new ferry has emerged at the reborn Dalmont shipyard in Kraljevica, Croatia.

Domestic owner Rapska Plovidba has launched a 79-metre vessel there that is costing EUR 7.9m ($9.47m), the Hina news agency reported.

Clarksons lists the last delivery from the yard as taking place in 2013.

Dalmont took space at the bankrupt Kraljevica Shipyard in 2013 after its final privatisation process failed.

Its CEO Ivan Ivic said the ship is the first to be launched by Dalmont.

Croatian minister of maritime affairs, transport and infrastructure, Oleg Butkovic, said the order proved that the yard is capable of continuing to operate.

He called on other Croatian owners like Jadrolinija to order new ships domestically.

Kraljevica is said to be the oldest continuously operating shipbuilder in the world.
