Korean shipbuilder DSME has posted a loss in the third quarter due to a shipyard sale in Romania.

The company said the net deficit to 30 September was KRW 323.9bn ($285.1m), against profit of KRW 74.9bn a year ago.

It said in a statement that the offloading of Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries in July in a deal with the Romanian government and Dutch shipbuilder Damen involved a loss of KRW 460bn.

Operating earnings dropped nearly 10% to KRW 177bn, versus KRW 195.9bn in 2017.

Revenue was down 9% at KRW 2.19 trillion.
