Workers at troubled Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik have gone on strike, welding shut two main entrances to the yard in Pula.
Reuters reported that the walkout on Thursday was the third since August as workers seek back pay.
Uljanik union leader Boris Cerovac criticised the government for “dragging its feet” on a decision to restructure the shipbuilder.
“From today we’re on strike again,” Cerovac said. “We’ve been working for six to seven months without a salary and no one appreciates it. We’re forced to go on strike again.”
Earlier this week the government said it needed more time to decide between bankruptcy or a $1.14bn restructuring.
It has lost ship contracts due to the problems. Domestic shipbuilder Brodosplit has agreed to take a stake in return for financial investment.
