Two marine services companies — one from Hong Kong and the other from China — have seized a small Chinese-owned product tanker in Singapore.

An arrest warrant was served on the 6,400-dwt ES Right (built 2010) by Shanghai Alliance Marine Service Co and Hong Kong Rich Marine Service Co on 2 January, shortly after it dropped anchor in the city-state’s port after a voyage from Haldia in India.

The two companies, who are represented by the law firm Oon & Bazul, have lodged a joint claim of $607,000 against the tanker.

Details on the nature of the claim were not immediately available to TradeWinds.

S&P Global’s International Ships Register lists the ES Right as being owned by Hong Kong-registered single-ship entity Eversea Confidence Co, with Shanghai-based Yonghuan Shipping as its operator and manager.

TradeWinds was unable to reach Yonghuan for comment.
