The 46,000-dwt Ceylon (built 2002) has reportedly gone to India’s Seven Islands Shipping.
The Shin Kurushima Dockyard-built vessel has been sold for some $7.7m, US brokers said. The price is roughly in-line with market expectations for the ship, which is next due for special survey in August 2022.
Eastern Pacific and Seven Islands did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Singapore-based Eastern Pacific has a fleet of almost 100 vessels, including car carriers, LPG vessels, containerships, bulkers of all sizes and tankers from small units up to suezmaxes.
The company controls eight MR tankers. If the Ceylon deal is cemented, the company's oldest tanker would be built in 2010. Ceylon was purchased for $30.3m in November 2003, when it was the Akebono.
In addition, Eastern Pacific has a newbuilding programme of 21 ships including LR2 tankers, LPG carriers, containerships, MR tankers and small chemical tankers.
