Belgian tanker owner Euronav has bought more of its own stock in deals worth about EUR 1.57m ($1.78m).

It added 226,372 of its own shares through trades on Euronext Brussels earlier this month, paying between EUR 6.8 and EUR 6.9 per share.

The stock closed up 0.86% at EUR 7.06 on Monday morning.

Euronav started buying shares in December and has now acquired 2.67m, bringing its total ownership to 3.37m shares or 1.53% of the company.

It said it may continue to buy back its own shares opportunistically.
