Euronav has been featured once again in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which it said demonstrates its commitment to maintaining a gender-equal working environment.
Bloomberg calls the GEI “the world’s only comprehensive investment-quality data source on gender equality”.
Paddy Rodgers, chief executive of the New York and Brussels-listed tanker owner, said the company was proud to have been selected to appear in the GEI for a second time, having also been included in 2018.
“Recognition by Bloomberg is important accreditation for our company on the continued progress made in supporting and maintaining gender equality throughout Euronav,” he said in a statement.
To be considered for inclusion in the GEI, companies must respond to a social survey created by Bloomberg and its team of third-party experts.
The survey is used to measure and score gender equality across internal company statistics; employee policies, gender-conscious product offerings and external community support and engagement.
Euronav and the other companies included on this year’s index scored at or above Bloomberg’s global threshold, which reflects best-in-class statistics and policies for achieving gender equality.
“The Bloomberg initiative itself continues to expand in scale with 230 companies comprising the 2019 Index – up from 103 last year. This reflects greater recognition and wider initiatives to create work environments that support gender equality,” Rodgers explained.
The 2019 index features companies from 10 sectors, headquartered in 36 countries and regions, compared to 24 nations in 2018.
