Rescue workers have recorded the fire-ravaged hull of the VLCC involved in a collision with a second tanker close to the entrance of the Singapore Strait.
Video footage showed damage along the entire length of the 300,000-dwt Ceres I (built 2001), which was not loaded at the time of the incident.
The video, posted on LinkedIn, showed black smoke in the background from the 74,200-dwt Hafnia Nile (built 2017), which also caught alight in the collision on 19 July.
The Hafnia Nile was loaded with a cargo of naphtha when it came into contact with the Sao Tome & Principe-flagged VLCC.
Further footage shared with TradeWinds from the poster of the video showed injured seafarers on the deck of a rescue vessel while a helicopter hovered overhead.
In the background, black smoke was seen billowing from one of the tankers.
The footage of the Ceres I was recorded by one of the rescuers after the fire had been put out.
Members of the crew were seen standing at the rails on deck. All have been accounted for.
The VLCC, which is suspected to have hauled sanctioned Iranian and Venezuelan cargoes in the past, switched off its AIS transponders in the aftermath of the collision as two tugs tried to tow it away.
Malaysian authorities later found the Ceres I under tow within its territorial waters. The tanker and its tugs were subsequently seized.
The two tankers have been towed to safe locations for further investigation, according to the Malaysian authorities.
