Korea's Hyodong Shipping has inked a domestic tanker order to renew its fleet.

Brokers said the owner has signed up for a 4,000-dwt product and chemical carrier at Samkang M&T.

This will be delivered in August 2020, but no price was given.

Busan-based Hyodong controls Dongbo Shipping and Hyo Dong Marine Service.

It has six tankers built in the 1990s and 2000s, and two veteran tugs.

Samkang took over STX's Goseong yard in 2017.

It is involved in steel-pipe production and manufacturing of ship blocks for domestic shipyards.

The company is currently building two 6,600-dwt tankers for Woolim Shipping at its existing site.
