Leading Norwegian shipowner Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Skipsrederi (KGJS) has sold a second LR3 tanker in two months, as the company moves to renew its fleet.

Brokers said the Hyundai Heavy Industries-built, 158,000-dwt SKS Spey (built 2007) has been sold to an undisclosed buyer for $24m.

Its sistership SKS Segura (built 2007) was sold to Vietnamese interests for $23.75m in February.

The SKS Spey is due for special survey in November next year.

Geir Mjelde, chief executive of the Bergen-based owner, did not respond to requests for comment.

In the last couple of years, Jebsen has sold several large tankers as the company renews its fleet.

In February 2020, it offloaded the 159,000-dwt SKS Saluda (built 2003) to Luendra Tankers of Singapore for $22m.

The KGJS Group is a leading private Norwegian owner with 16 tankers including four LR3 tankers in its fleet.

It also has eight kamsarmax bulkers owned in a 50:50 joint venture with JP Morgan. The company is also a leading player in the cement carrier business.

The KGJS Group is owned by Hans Peter Jebsen and his family.
