Maersk Tankers pools boss Jesper Bo Hansen has resigned after less than two years in the role.
The Danish operator confirmed his departure and told TradeWinds he will be replaced by Soren Huscher as head of pool management from 1 December.
Bo Hansen is heading to giant UK-headquartered ship management group V.Group.
He told TradeWinds: “I have been offered and accepted a position as managing director, decarbonisation and northern Europe, in V.Group.
“My personal ambition has always been within the green transformation of the maritime industry and I am excited to join V.Group, which has put itself at the forefront of exactly that; decarbonisation and green transformation for their customers and the industry.”
V.Group has been contacted for comment.
The departing pools boss joined Maersk Tankers from another AP Moller Holding-backed company, ZeroNorth, in December 2022.
Hansen had spent nine months at ZeroNorth, the voyage optimisation platform with investment from Cargill and PSG Equity, serving as the firm’s chief revenue officer.
His mission at Maersk Tankers was to boost its partnerships.
Prior to moving to ZeroNorth, Hansen spent five years as managing director at Maersk Broker Advisory Services, where he set up a consultancy on climate affairs for shipping companies, investors and lenders.
He was also a board member at Team Tankers and worked at Heidmar and Torm.
Maersk Tankers told TradeWinds in May that Huscher was joining from Danish owner-operator Norden.
Return to Maersk
His role was not revealed at the time and he remains on gardening leave, according to his LinkedIn page.
Huscher resigned from Norden Tanker Pools earlier that month.
“Maersk is where my shipping career started almost 42 years ago, and through 15 years, mostly with Maersk Tankers, helped me prepare for my subsequent challenges, which now takes me back to a very different company,” Huscher said at the time.
He also spent almost three years working as a broker for Lorentzen & Stemoco, before becoming chief executive of the Norient Product Pool, as it was then known.
The pool was established in 2005 as a joint venture with tanker owner Interorient. Norden bought out its partner’s stake in 2019.
Huscher spearheaded work to revamp the platform in 2022 when it was renamed Norden Tanker Pools to reflect the change in ownership and appeal to a wider base of partners.
Anders Birk succeeded Huscher as head of commercial for pool management at Norden.
Tina Revsbech took over as managing director of Maersk Tankers in September last year, joining from bulker firm Fednav.
In September this year, the company said it was launching a new pool for chemical carriers.
Maersk Tankers Chemicals began operations this month with five vessels.
The focus is on J19 chemical tankers — stainless steel chemical tankers of between 19,000 dwt and 22,500 dwt — that are held by Maersk Tankers’ existing partners.
In March, Maersk Tankers let 14 management staff go globally, including the commercial heads of its Singapore-based pool operations.
The move was characterised as a tightening up of an excessive corporate organisation it inherited from the Maersk Group in 2017.
