Maersk Tankers has appointed Kristin Holth and Michael Brennan to its board as vice-chairman Paul Reed steps down.

The appointment adds to a series of board appointments for Holth, who was DNB’s global head of ocean industries until the end of March.

She is a director at Maersk Drilling, which is a sister company to Maersk Tankers in the AP Moller Holding umbrella, and finance company HitecVision.

The influential banker is also GasLog's first-ever female board member.

Brennan, a former trader who headed Morgan Stanley’s global oil business between 2011 and 2015, earlier served on the boards of Heidmar, Aircraft Fuel Supply and TransMontaigne.

He is currently the board director of Navigator Terminals, the UK’s largest bulk storage provider, and Douglas Terminals.

“They hold extensive and insightful experience from commodity trading, the energy related capital markets, the maritime industries and the global supply chain of fuels,” said AP Moller chief executive and chairman Robert Uggla.

“We look forward to Kristin and Michael’s contributions to our ongoing journey of developing Maersk Tankers into a compelling, data driven services platform.”

Since being taken private by AP Moller in in October 2017, Maersk Tankers has transformed itself into one of the world’s largest commercial managers of product tankers.

The company's major selling point has been its ability to develop digital tools that can help optimise trading routes and minimise fuel consumption for pool partners.

The technology prowess was underscored by its subsidiary ZeroNorth, which secured strategic investment from Cargill with the capability of its flagship software Optimise earlier this month.

Former BP trade chief Paul Reed, who was appointed as the Danish tanker operator’s vice-chairman in 2018, is set to retire by early next year.

He was one of the few senior executives in the UK to be openly gay.

“I sincerely thank Paul, on behalf of our board and executive team, for his highly valued engagement and tenure,” Uggla said in a press release.

Both Holth and Brennan will begin to serve from January. Maersk Tankers will have a six-member board, which also includes Ibrahim Gokcen, Martin Larsen, Maria Pejter.
