Denmark’s Maersk Tankers has reportedly sold off another couple of clean carriers acquired through the 2008 takeover of Sweden’s Brostom.

The 17,000-dwt Bro Anna and Bro Agnes (both built 2008) have gone for $14.2m and $14.3m respectively, brokers said.

VesselsValue identified the new owner as Norway’s Rederiet Stenersen, while Clarksons reports a deal with Poland’s Oktan Energy.

Maersk Tankers said it does not comment on rumours and speculation.

Nor could it comment on plans for the remaining three Brostrom vessels built in 2007 and 2008.

Stenersen has not responded to TradeWinds’ request for comment.

The shipowner acquired four other Brostrom ships from Maersk Tankers in May.

They were the 16,400-dwt Bro Nakskov, 16,500-dwt Bro Nibe and Bro Nordby, and 16,600-dwt Bro Nyborg (all built 2007).

Family-owned Rederiet said that purchase had positive effects on the company.

Sigve Stenersen, finance and commercial director at the Bergen operation, told Finansavisen: “The purchase of these ships entails that Brostrom is phased out as a serious competitor in our segment.”

MRs sold

Oktan Energy is a fuel supplier based in Szczecin. It has been contacted for comment.

AP Moller-Maersk bought Swedish product tanker rival Brostrom in 2008 for SEK 3.62bn — then worth some $567m — but it disposed of the smaller segments of the former Brostrom fleet over the next several years.

In the MR sectors, brokers report United Arab Emirates owner Tehama Shipping selling the 37,000-dwt PSS Vitality (built 2002) and PSS Energy (built 2001) for $25m en bloc.

The buyer is an unknown Middle Eastern company.

Tehama is left with a single vessel, a sub-panamax container ship built in 2004.
