Maersk Tankers, one of the world’s largest tanker pool managers, has appointed a new chief human resources officer to promote diversity and inclusion within the company.

Annelise Goldstein, associate client partner at management consultancy Korn Ferry, will join Denmark-based Maersk Tankers in March when Prakash Thangachan steps down.

With more than 20 years of experience in talent development, Goldstein has held senior human resources roles at Nordea and pharmaceuticals firm Novo Nordisk.

Goldstein is currently responsible for leadership development within the Nordics for Korn Ferry, with a strong focus on diversity.

“As we transform Maersk Tankers, we need to secure a breadth of expertise that will bolster our effort to create an innovative and sustainable future for the company and industry,” chief executive Christian Ingerslev said in a statement.

“Annelise is a highly experienced leader with a proven track record, promoting leadership development and diversity and inclusion. This makes her a strong fit for the next step in our transformation.”

Diversity and inclusion strategy

Goldstein will be driving organisational development and leading the diversity and inclusion strategy for Maersk Tankers, which positions itself to be a service business for vessel owners, the statement said.

Since 2017, Maersk Tankers has become a pure commercial manager as sole shareholder AP Moller Holding transferred vessel ownership to its Maersk Product Tankers joint venture with Mitsui & Co.

“I am excited to join Maersk Tankers at a time where the company is going through significant changes,” Goldstein said.

“With this comes a cultural shift that requires strong purpose-driven leadership and a high-performing organisation that fosters the collective talents of its diverse employees. I look forward to working with Maersk Tankers’ leaders to drive the next step of the transformation.”

Goldstein will become a member of the executive management team at Maersk Tankers and report directly to the chief executive.

Her predecessor, Thangachan, will leave Maersk Tankers after heading the company’s human resources department since 2017.

“I want to extend my sincere thanks to Prakash for his strong leadership during the past four years. He has been instrumental in setting up Maersk Tankers as an independent service company, leaving a legacy in the form of a robust organisational set-up, highly engaged employees and a capable human resources team,” Ingerslev said.
