Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis appears to have done well on his investment in a 13-year-old aframax tanker.
According to European brokers, the 113,000-dwt Androklis (built 2006) has been fixed for a year at $20,500 per day, with an option for a second year at $25,000 per day, by trader Trafigura Beheer.
The Marinakis company Capital Maritime and Trading bought the ship from BP as British Kestrel in October last year for $13.7m. The ship is today likely worth close to $17m.
The owner did not respond to requests for comment.
Marinakis bought three Samsung-built sisterships in October 2018 as well as the 105,000-dwt tanker CSK Shelton (built 2005) from the TCC Group of Hong Kong for $12.5m to $13m.
This month Capital Maritime reportedly sold this ship, now named Agrios, for some $16m to Waruna Nusa Sentana of Indonesia.
