Russia's huge new Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has launched its first vessel.
Domestic energy company Rosneft said one of its new LNG-fuelled aframaxes entered the water at the far east yard on Wednesday.
The 114,000-dwt Vladimir Monomakh is due for delivery in September as the greenfield yard ramps up production.
Rosneft said the main and additional power supply units can operate on both traditional fuel and LNG.
The 250-metre ship can travel at 14.6 knots and is ice class 1A.
Zvezda has orders for 12 of the vessels.
The yard is owned by state holding company United Shipbuilding Corp.
The launch was said to be a "unique operation" due to the use of a Vympel floating transfer dock, one of the largest in Russia.
A day to prepare
Preparation took almost a day.
"Within this time, the tanker was rolled by a vessel trolley-transporter from the open outfitting slip to the floating dock, and then taken to the waters," Rosneft said.
The original order dates back to 2017 when Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the site for the signing ceremony.
The first keel was laid in 2018.
Four aframaxes are currently in production in outfitting berths.
Metal cutting was carried out for a fifth in February this year.
The vessels are being built for Rosneft's ship operating arm Rosnefteflot for work in the Arctic region.
They are the first vessels of this type to be built in the country.
Zvezda has 20 confirmed orders including others tankers, offshore ships and an icebreaker.
