An MOL VLCC has collided with a loading pipeline in Basra, causing some disruption to loading at the terminal.

Brokers were alerted to the incident involving the 311,000-dwt Altair Trader (built 2005) yesterday.

A spokesperson for the shipowner says the tanker is now loading and the situation is being examined.

The collision is not thought to have caused any pollution.

Sources said one of the moorings at the key tanker terminal in Iraq was closed following the impact from the Altair Trader.

However, other loading operations were not thought to have suffered any significant disruption.

MOL is one of the world’s largest VLCC owners with 29 such tankers in its vast fleet, according to VesselsValue.
