Danish bunker and tanker group Monjasa has strengthened its board with the appointment of DFDS’ Peder Gellert Pedersen.
The acting executive vice president of DFDS’ ferry division, Pedersen brings 40 years of hands-on experience in international shipping.
His is the fifth name on the list of Monjasa directors.
He "will engage in the further development of Monjasa as a modern oil and shipping group," the group said.
"This includes taking an active part in Monjasa’s push for extended quality and transparency on bunker purchases and building further on recent years’ positive developments."
The company last week revealed a 17% increase in total fuel supply volumes for 2018, with net profit of $5m.
Chairman Christian Merrild said: “As chairman, I’m pleased to welcome Peder Gellert Pedersen as a new capacity in the board room.
"Overall expectations to bunker suppliers are increasing and Peder’s understanding of maritime shipping and logistics from his daily leadership in the DFDS group is an important contribution to Monjasa. Very importantly, we also get a real team player with good people skills on board matching Monjasa’s personal business profile well.”
Pedersen joined DFDS in 1994 from Fredericia Shipping.
