Ever-expanding Navig8 Group has taken over the commercial operation of three tankers arrested in 2021 by CSIC Leasing.

The first of the panamax trio to join the London-based pools and management operation was the 69,400-dwt Strofades (built 2006) in the summer.

This was followed by the 69,500-dwt Dhonoussa (built 2005) in September and the 69,700-dwt Antikeros (built 2004) this month.

TradeWinds had reported in March this year that the former Eletson Corp vessels looked set to make a comeback after legal troubles.

The Strofades had been under arrest in Singapore’s Eastern Anchorage for a full year by that point.

It was arrested in March 2021 by CSIC Leasing, the leasing arm of China Shipbuilding Industry Corp.

The company seized the trio off Freeport in the Bahamas.

The Strofades was renamed CS Fu Jian towards the end of February this year, at which time its technical management was transferred from Eletson Corp to Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement.

The ships were part of a refinancing deal that Eletson arranged with CSIC Leasing in 2017.

The Chinese lessor claimed that Eletson was behind in lease payments and it had therefore terminated the charters and was seeking to repossess the ships.

New aframax pool

The Antikeros and Dhonoussa were laid up in Freeport.

Navig8 is fresh from announcing a new aframax pool this week.

It said the V8 Plus Pool will start life with three vessels owned by Cypriot firm Castor Maritime.

The 115,400-dwt Wonder Polaris, Wonder Sirius (both built 2005) and Wonder Bellatrix (built 2006) were listed as operating in Navig8’s V8 Pool, which is now intended for ships of up to 15 years of age.

The V8 Plus Pool will handle vessels older than that.
