UK-based Navig8 Group has continued to build up its pools business in deals with two new shipowners.

The company said it has added the 75,000-dwt LR1 tanker Red Eagle (built 2011) to the LR8 pool.

The owner is Adhart Shipping of Singapore, a new partner for Navig8.

Adhart has three other LR1s, but these are older, built in 1999, 2003 and 2004.

The LR8 pool now has 16 ships, all employed in the spot market.

New suezmax

Meanwhile, Nicholas G Moundreas group company NGM Energy has added the 156,500-dwt newbuilding suezmax Bella Ciao to the Suez8 pool.

The ship was delivered this summer from New Times Shipbuilding in China.

NGM appears to also be a new name for Navig8.

This brings to 17 the number of suezmaxes in the Suez8 pool, again all spot operated.

The pool has been expanding rapidly over the last year, thanks to deals with US owner Ridgebury Tankers and Swiss trader and owner Trafigura.

In June, Navig8 confirmed it was taking over seven vessels controlled by Trafigura through a combination of pool membership and time charters.

The vessels are a VLCC, three suezmaxes, an aframax and two LR2s.

This deal was Navig8's biggest addition since the capture of eight Ridgebury suezmaxes last year.

Also in June, Navig8 added a former Signal-managed aframax to its pool operation as it revealed.

The tanker operating giant said it was pleased to welcome Greek owner Kondinave as a client with its 113,000-dwt Leo (built 2010), which was the tenth ship in its V8 aframax pool.
