Muscat-based Oman Shipping has reportedly locked another ship into a period charter.

European brokers say the 110,000-dwt LR2 tanker Haima (built 2009) has been fixed for up to a year to PDS.

The tanker was taken for six firm months at $17,750 per day with an option for six more months at $19,750 per day.

In August last year the tanker completed a one-year charter to Glencore International at $15,250 per day.

Oman Shipping could not be reached for immediate comment.

The company, which has a diversified fleet of more than 50 ships, has told TradeWinds it intends to put more of its tanker fleet on the spot market.

Last month it fixed its 83,000-cbm VLGC Musanah (built 2009) to Japan’s Gyxis for two or three years at an undisclosed rate.

Also in the clean segment, Trafigura has fixed the 75,000-dwt tanker Gulf Coast (built 2005) from GEM. The ship is taken for a year at $15,750 per day.

ST Shipping has extended the charter if a MR tanker from Avin International of Greece.

The 50,000-dwt Kriti Emerald (built 2005) is now fixed for 10 months at $13,000 per day. The last year ST has been paying $12,750 per day for the tanker.
