Team Tankers, the shipowner chaired by Morten Arntzen, has sold one of its vessels to an Asian buyer, multiple brokers say.

The 13,400-dwt Sichem Paris (built 2008) has changed hands in an $8.2m deal, it is claimed.

Shipbrokers believe the tanker has been chartered back to New York-listed Team Tankers for a two-year period.

Team has a fleet of almost 50 ships in the water, spanning 37 coated and 11 stainless steel tankers.

Attempts to reach Team executives for comment on the matter were unsuccessful at the time of writing on Monday.

The company had $46m in liquidity at the end of the first quarter, including both cash and undrawn credit.

Team, in which JP Morgan is the largest shareholder, has focused its business into three key areas.

It is today a top-10 player in the product tanker market for ships between 25,000 and 54,000-dwt.

However, Team claims number one position in the regional coated market for 10,000-dwt to 16,000-dwt tankers and the regional stainless steel niche between 7,000-dwt and 13,000-dwt.
