Croatian owner Tankerska Next Generation (TNG) has cliched more contract cover for its MR fleet.

The company said one of its six vessels had secured a six-month charter with an unnamed US client.

There is an option for the charterer to extend this for 12 months.

The rate is $17,100 per day.

TNG reiterated that the deal was in line with its strategy to focus on a "strong asset base and stable cash flow."

"In doing so, TNG minimises the risk of its business operations, by means of balancing the employment of the fleet on voyage charter while still focusing on the significance of time charters."

Last week a "prominent charterer" took another TNG MR for between six and 12 months at $17,000 per day.

In March it said its 53,000-dwt conventional ice-class vessel Velebit (built 2011) won a year's deal at $14,500 with an unnamed charterer.

The charterer has an option to extend the contract for an additional eight months at approximately $15,500 per day.

Immediately before that, it announced another of its ships was fixed for a year at $16,000 per day.

Brokers said this was the 49,000-dwt Dalmacija (built 2015), taken by Trafigura.

Sources claimed Trafigura also fixed TNG's 49,000-dwt Zoilo (built 2005) on similar terms.
