Top Ships has announced the sale of its last scrubberless tanker, netting the company just under $7m.

The Evangelos Pistiolis-backed owner confirmed the sale of the 49,737-dwt MR product tanker Nord Valiant (built 2016) to an unaffiliated third party, on Wednesday.

"The related financing has been prepaid in full and the net cash proceeds of the sale amount to about $6.9m, before fees and expenses relating to the sale," the company said.

While a buyer was not named, TradeWinds reported in April that the ship had been bought for $26.5m by a company linked to Danish outfit Dee4 Capital Partners.

The company, whose fleet has swelled from six MRs to as many as nine in the months since the initial report, lists the ship on its website under the name Dee4 Larsh. Brokers and shipping databases show the ship is still named the Nord Valiant.

The ship was set to undergo special survey in August.

Both Top Ships and Dee4 have been approached for comment.

Dee4 was launched by Carsten Mortensen and Freddie Lee in 2019 to focus on maritime investments.

In addition to the nine ships on the water, Dee4 has four newbuldings under contract set for delivery in 2022.

The Nord Valiant had been the oldest ship in Top Ships' fleet, while it is among Dee4's youngest, with several built in 2011 or earlier.

The sale leaves the company with six product tankers, all MRs, and seven crude tankers comprising five suezmaxes and two VLCCs.
