Blue Seas Shipping has emerged as the new owner of one of the ships reportedly sold by Turkey’s Deniz Nakliyati in January.

Executives at the Athens-based shipowner confirmed the purchase of the 58,000-dwt DN Millet (built 2011) for $14.5m.

TradeWinds reported in January that Deniz Nakliyati had sold sistership duo DN Millet and DN Vatan to undisclosed buyers for about $14.9m each.

Some UK-based brokers are identifying Blue Seas as the buyer of both vessels, which are also Deniz Nakliyati’s last ships.

However, Blue Seas co-principal Kyriakos Sigalas denied this, telling TradeWinds that his company only bought the DN Millet, which is now trading under its new name of Amilla.

Blue Seas Shipping is a relatively young company, registered in 2014, and the purchase of the DN Millet brings its fleet to five ships.

Its principals — Kyriakos and Theologos Sigalas — were previously with Trade Fortune.

The two supramaxes that Blue Seas started business with used to be part of the Trade Fortune fleet.

However, the two companies are not affiliated and are independent from each other, Kyriakos Sigalas tells TradeWinds.
