Norwegian owner Lorentzen Skibs is the latest shipowner to enter tonnage into the Baumarine by MaruKlav pool.

The 79,000-dwt Golden Eclipse (built 2010) — now renamed Eclipse — is set to join one of the world’s largest panamax pools in early June.

The vessel has just come off a bareboat charter to John Fredriksen’s Golden Ocean Group, where it was reportedly earning $28,025 per day.

The pool confirmed that the vessel has recently returned to the investor group and is currently undergoing dry docking before entering the pool.

“As an investor in the panamax segment, we are happy to partner up with the Baumarine pool and believe that we, through close cooperation, can achieve the best return for trading the vessel,” shipowner Nikolai E Lorentzen said.

Baumarine by MaruKlav managing director Michael Jorgensen said it “was pleasing” to see a Norwegian owner joining the pool.

We hope we can build on this and expand with additional owners in Scandinavia

“We hope we can build on this and expand with additional owners in Scandinavia.”

Jorgensen said the pool was seeing a clear trend in the market for vessels getting redelivered to owners or investors after five, seven or 10-year time charters.

“We believe that we provide the right solutions for this particular group of owners globally with our strong commercial management base,” he said.

Baumarine by MaruKlav has been undergoing a growth spurt in recent months with a number of owners entering tonnage.

Late last month, Indian iron ore miner MSPL added two of its four post-panamax bulkers — the 92,870-dwt Indus Victory (built 2013) and 92,967-dwt Indus Triumph (built 2012) — into the pool.

Other owners joining the pool this year include Shoei Kisen — the shipowner arm of Imabari Shipbuilding — and fellow Japanese owners Meiji Shipping and Kambara Kisen, as well as Taiwan's U-Ming Marine.

Pool members are scheduled to have their first large meeting this month, which will likely be conducted online, according to Jorgensen.
