Tanzania is planning to construct a new dry bulk port in its southern region of Mbeya.

The country's ports authority wants to boost trade with Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo, the Citizen newspaper reported.

It cited deputy minister for works, transport and communications, Atashasta Nditiye, as saying the terminal will be linked to the Tanzania-Zambia railway line.

Construction is planned to begin in the 2020/21 financial year.
