A big Cosco containership has been refloated after running aground on a sandbank near Vladivostok, Russia.

The TASS news agency cited the port's marine rescue coordination centre as saying the 13,386-teu Cosco England (built 2013) dragged anchor in a gale off Skrypleva Island late on Monday.

It had anchored to receive fuel from a tanker, but this operation was halted.

The tugs Dobrynya and Bogatyr initially failed to move the vessel, but it eventually got underway again in the early hours of Tuesday.

No damage or pollution was reported.
