Euroseas, a US-listed container ship owner, has secured lucrative three-year charters for three modern feeder vessels.
The Aristides Pittas-led company has fixed two 2,800-teu newbuildings and a third freshly delivered sister ship to Cosco-liner subsidiary OOCL.
Brokers say the vessels have been fixed at over $31,000 per day marking an improvement of last-done deals in a tight charter market.
The three vessels are Chittagongmaxes of the Hyundai CGX14 2800 design.
They include the 2,800-teu Symeon P and Dear Panel, which are slated for delivery early next year from HD Hyundai Mipo in South Korea.
The third vessel is the sister ship Tender Soul (built 2024), which is on time-charter with Japanese liner operator Ocean Network Express until December at $17,000 per day.
The deals continue a busy chartering period for the Greek owner, which is taking advantage of strong demand for smaller ships.
Last week, Euroseas fixed the 1,732-teu Jonathan P (built 2006) for 11 to 13 months at $13,000 per day.
The Chittagongmax design has proven popular with OOCL, which already operates a sister ship taken from the fleet of Tsakos Shipping and Trading on its intra-Asia services.
Other shipbuilders’ designs with similar Chittagongmax dimensions are also reported being taken on charter for shorter periods at slightly higher rates.
AP Moller-Maersk is this week reported to have fixed the 2,700-teu Cape Citius (built 2021) for 26 to 28 months at $34,000 per day for a fixture beginning in January.
The vessel is owned by Athens-based shipowner Cape Shipping, which owns four scrubber-fitted Chittagongmaxes built at the Guangzhou Wenchong shipyard.
