Norwegian ferry company Color Group had a weaker result in the first six months this year.

The Olav Nils Sunde-owned firm posted a pre-tax loss of NOK 108m ($12m), against a NOK 525m profit in the same period last year.

The company experienced increased costs on the new 2,000-passenger ferry Color Hybrid.

It was delivered from the domestic Ulstein yard in August. The ferry is being employed on the route between Sandefjord, Norway and Stromstad, Sweden.

This ship was also delayed from the yard.

The higher oil price and weaker Norwegian currency is also contributing, so the board expects a weaker result for the whole of 2019.

Revenue totalled NOK 2.278bn in the first six months, against NOK 2.246bn last year.

In 2017 the company considered a public listing, but the plans were shelved due to market conditions.

Color Group has a fleet of seven ferries that operate between ports in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Germany.
