Royal Caribbean has banned a passenger for life after he jumped overboard from an 11th floor balcony on the world's largest cruiseship.

Nick Naydev leapt into the sea while the Symphony of the Seas was at anchor in the Bahamas and later posted video of the stunt to his Instagram account.

Footage shows Naydev flailing through the air, hitting the water and resurfacing, apparently unharmed.

Within the video's comments, Naydev said he was "still drunk from the previous night" and that he "could barely walk for 3 days" after injuring his back in the jump.

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson told Sun Online Travel that Naydev and his friends were told to leave the vessel and have been banned for life by the cruise company.

"This was stupid and reckless behaviour and he and his companions have been banned from ever sailing with us again. We are exploring legal action," the spokesman told The Sun.

The video, which contains some explicit language, has had over 82,000 views since it was posted on Saturday.
