Spanish authorities have discovered 20 tons of Moroccan hashish on a general cargoship.
The narcotics were hidden in false compartments on the 4,600-dwt Marti N (built 1992).
The ship was intercepted 45 miles off Almeria, the civil guard said in a news conference, according to domestic media.
Spanish police arrested 11 Ukrainians and one Uzbek on board. The men face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Civil guard lieutenant colonel Javier Rogero said the drugs were destined for jihadi terrorists in Libya.
They were intended to be sold in European countries to fund weapons.
The vessel is listed by Equasis as owned by Martilorr Shipping of Georgia as of 11 October. The company could not be contacted.
