Oaktree Capital Management Group and Goldentree Asset Management have increased their positions in Eagle Bulk Shipping.

Los Angeles-based Oaktree has upped its stake in the Gary Vogel-led bulker player to 26.1 million shares by buying 960,000 shares 27 December, according to an SEC filing.

The Howard Marks-led hedge fund holds 36.12% of Eagle Bulk, which has a $348m market cap.

New York-based Goldentree increased its interest to 17.8% from 16.7% by grabbing about 800,000 shares on 13 November.

Eagle Bulk's shares gained 3.2% to close at $4.83.
