Clipper Group is on the hunt for a new chief financial officer after the present incumbent opted to leave the Danish shipowner.

Clipper said in a statement that the company and Flemming Steen had “mutually agreed” that he should step down effective immediately.

The Copenhagen-based company gave no reason for Steen’s sudden departure following his four year stint in the role.

“As group CFO and part of executive management, Flemming Steen has played a key role in leading Clipper through the hard times that have characterized the shipping industry the past years,” the company said.

“Clipper’s new long-term financing agreement is now secured and the timing is therefore right for a hand-over and new challenges for Flemming Steen.”

The company will also be looking for a new chairman for Seatruck Ferries and vice-chairman for Danish Ferries. Both positions previously held by Steen.

Clipper Group is a major player in the dry bulk sector operating a fleet of around 130 handysize and supramax vessels.
