A UK investment manager is perhaps looking a bit more confidently at Diana Shipping, bringing its stake in the Simeon Palios-led company over 5%.
London-based Hosking Partners, which invests heavily in American airlines and retail, now owns more than 5.3 million Diana Shipping shares, according to a regulatory filing.
The SEC requires investors to file notice of any transaction that puts their position beyond 5%.
Diana Shipping's top shareholder is chairman and chief executive Simeon Palios, who holds a 23% stake with 24.9 million shares.
Other major investors include Franklin Advisors with 7.4% ownership and Kopernik Global Investors with a 5.7% commitment.
The company holds a market capitalisation of $335.2m off of 103.8 million shares.
Its stock is holding steady this morning, falling less than 1% to $3.23 since the opening bell.
