South Korea's Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has clinched contracts for two more gas ships.

It said in a filing it had added a deal for two LPG carriers worth a total of nearly KRW 112bn ($93.8m), or $46.9m each.

The client is an Asia-based shipowner, HMD added.

The new business brings the total 2019 sales at the yard, which is part of the Hyundai Heavy Industries group, to KRW 2.403trn.

The contract was signed on 5 December.

Also last week, the yard announced that it won a deal from newcomer Hydex Storage for its first ropax vessel at HMD.

The shipbuilder said the company will pay KRW 75.9bn for the 27,000-gt car ferry, which is 170 metres long.

Delivery is set for the end of September 2021.

Thenamaris building at HMD

TradeWinds reported last month that Greek owner Thenamaris had exercised an option for another LPG carrier newbuilding at HMD, according to market sources.

Managers at the Martinos family company did not immediately comment at the time on talk of the deal.

However, several online ship directories list the newbuilding in the shipowner's fleet, which would be the third in a series of LPG vessels due for delivery in 2021.

Thenamaris had already confirmed ordering two LPG carriers at South Korea's HMD in early September. It was estimated to have ordered them for about $49m each.
