UK shipowner James Fisher has reportedly snapped up its second subsea support vessel this year.

The 4,400-dwt Altus Uber (built 2007), the former Siem Swordfish, has been acquired for $24m, VesselsValue said.

VesselsValue, which valued the ship at $23.6m, added that the unit had previously been working off Mumbai, India.

It is understood it will shortly relocate to Dubai for delivery to Fisher.

The ship was sold by the Siem group in 2012 for a reported $54m.

Another source told TradeWinds theowner is currently Veolia. The vessel had been bareboat chartered to MEDS of the United Arab Emirates, but the contract was terminated a year ago.

In January, Fisher was said to have bought the laid-up, 103-loa diving support vessel Toisa Paladin (built 2008) for $20.3m from Greece's bankrupt Toisa group.

VesselsValue prices the Toisa Paladin at $24m, but VesselsValue head of offshore Robert Day said this figure does not take into account the vessel was laid up for two years and required yard reactivation.

James Fisher has been contacted for comment.

The company is better known as a tanker owner, but it does have an anchor-handler and utility ship.
