HFW veteran Jonathan Webb has switched to US law firm Zeiler Floyd Zadkovich (ZFZ) after nearly three decades of service.

The highly experienced lawyer will continue to be based in London for the boutique shipping and commodities law firm.

New York-headquartered ZFZ has grown substantially over the last six years. Many of its partners have previously worked for the likes of HFW and Stephenson Harwood.

The company handles UK and US shipping law, and also has a strong presence in Vienna, Austria.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan Webb to our firm,” said partner Luke Zadkovich.

“Jonathan’s experience, knowledge and reputation for advising the international shipping and commodities sectors is genuinely market-leading,” he added.

Zadkovich explained the firm’s approach is founded on teamwork with a keen focus on what clients need.

“Jonathan will fit right in, adding considerable depth to our client offering,” the partner said.

Webb has been with HFW for 29 years and four months, based in London.

He became a partner there in 2000.

The lawyer specialises in shipping dispute resolution and related litigation as well as disputes involving commodities, mining, energy and offshore contracts.

Mentoring part of role

Webb joined ZFZ as a partner on 4 April.

His new firm said he has a track record of excellence within the shipping and maritime community, and has been involved in both arbitration and High Court cases involving transport, shipping, commodities and energy.

His expertise spans charterparties, bills of lading, ship sale and financing contracts, shipbuilding deals, hull insurance policies, bunker supply contracts and ship management and crewing agreements.

“Jonathan’s joining reinforces the firm’s strong shipping practice which advises from both sides of the Atlantic, working as one global team with internationally acclaimed practices in both New York and London,” ZFZ said.

“On top of his client work, ZFZ looks forward to Jonathan’s mentoring of the team’s younger generation of associates, and is thrilled for a practitioner of his calibre and reputation to share his insights and guidance into the industry,” the firm added.
