Norway's Supreme Court has declined to hear a further appeal by staff that were fired by offshore support vessel owner GC Rieber when it liquidated a crewing subsidiary.

Some 17 former staff have been pursuing legal action against GC Rieber Crewing and GC Rieber Shipping, but lost an appeal in September when the Gulating court ruled in favour of the shipowner.

"The Supreme Court's appeal committee has today decided that the appeal will not be processed by the Supreme Court," GC Rieber said in a filing to the Oslo Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

The decision from Gulating Court of Appeal is therefore final, the owner said.

The Bergen District Court found in GC Rieber's favour in the initial court case, which concluded in March 2018.
