GasAtacama is hoping to firm up an LNG supply deal in October for its planned floating import terminal in Chile. The Endesa and Southern Cross-owned developer is negotiating to secure a contract for shale gas volumes from 2016 after holding talks with at least five US liquefaction proponents, according to local press reports. One of the players in discussions with GasAtamaca has already received consent to export cargoes while the others are said to be in the process of applying for such permits.A number of American export project proponents have already secured permission to ship out LNG to countries with which the US holds a free trade agreement.Chile falls under the list of 19 countries to have an FTA with the US.GasAtacama earlier this year contracted Golar LNG to provide a floating storage and regasification unit to act as its import terminal. The 170,000-cbm FSRU will deliver around 180 million cubic feet per day of regasified LNG, with the potential for future expansion up to 360 MMcfd. The unit is due for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2015.
