GC Rieber Shipping’s boss Irene Waage Basili will temporarily leave her post until a newly established joint venture with Rasmussengruppen finds a new chief executive.

The Oslo-listed owner said in an announcement that new company Shearwater GeoServices has been well received by the market and it is clear that the company needs a full-time chief executive and management.

Basili was appointed as interim boss of Shearwater on the date of the JV’s announcement in mid-October.

GC Rieber’s chief financial officer (CFO) Einar Ytredal will take Basili’s position as acting chief executive.

And Oystein Kvale has been appointed as the company’s acting CFO.

Shearwater GeoServices will provide marine geophysical services to oil and gas and multi-client companies worldwide.

It has already initiated a process to hire a permanent chief executive.
