Rever Offshore has appointed Bibby Offshore managing director Barry MacLeod as its new chief executive.

MacLeod replaces Mark Bessell, who stepped down from the role last month for personal reasons, it said.

Bibby became part of the Rever group following its sale by Bibby Line to bondholder York Capital's Fara Holdco last year and merged with two other York companies, Norway's Rever and Cecon Contracting.

The Bibby name was retired on 16 January.

MacLeod has eight years’ experience as a board director of the group, with roles including operations director, asset management director and — latterly — managing director for five years.

Rever said: "The news of this new appointment comes at an exciting time for the organisation as it looks forward into 2019 with a positive outlook and further projects on the horizon."
