Norway’s DOF Group has revealed a trio of new charters worth more than $253m for multipurpose support vessels (MSVs) in Brazil.

The deals are a combination of extensions and new firm periods for energy major Petrobras.

The 74-loa Skandi Chieftain (built 2006) and Skandi Commander (built 2007), and the 79-loa Skandi Olympia (built 2009), have been booked on three-year deals.

The contracts for Skandi Chieftain and Skandi Olympia have been extended until the end of 2022 before these fresh periods begin.

The charter for the Skandi Commander has also been stretched, until November 2022, and the vessel will then be used by subsidiary DOF Subsea Brasil to serve the company’s contract with Petrobras until August 2023.

After that, the ship will start the new three-year contract, combining remote operated vehicle (ROV) and autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) capabilities.

All three new contracts have two-year optional extension periods.

DOF chief executive Mons Aase said: “I am very excited about these new IMR [inspection maintenance and repair] contracts with Petrobras.”

He added the awards underpin DOF’s position as the market leader within IMR in Brazil.

“I am also very happy to see that the Skandi Commander will mobilise an AUV for the duration of the contract,” the CEO added.

DOF reports financial results on Thursday.

In June, the owner sealed its long-awaited $1.9bn restructuring deal that will see banks and bondholders take a majority stake after three years of talks.

The group had been trying to secure its future by reducing a NOK 18.7bn ($1.9bn) debt mountain since the second quarter of 2019.
