Denmark’s Navigare Capital Partners has ordered another offshore wind vessel as it accelerates its move into the sector.

Fincantieri-owned Vard has been chosen to build the commissioning service operation vessel for delivery in the first quarter of 2026.

The unit, for which no price was revealed, will operated by Norway’s Norwind Offshore, in which Navigare is an investor.

The parties have also agreed new options for two additional vessels.

Navigare is backed by co-founder and major AP Moller-Maersk shareholder Robert Maersk Uggla and Danish investor J Lauritzen.

There is a mixed fleet of 14 tankers, gas carriers and container ships, with two more box ships on order.

The Vard 4 19 vessel will be built in Romania and finished in Norway.

It is the fifth CSOV newbuilding for Norwind Offshore contracted at Vard since 2021, in addition to the conversion of a platform supply vessel into a service operation vessel.

The 85-metre unit will have accommodation for 87 people.

Torgeir Haugan, senior vice president sales and marketing at Vard, said the deal strengthens the yard’s leading position within the market for offshore wind farm support vessels.

“We truly appreciate the cooperation with Norwind Offshore, and in these projects we will further develop our relationship,” he added.

Debuted in 2021

Norwind Offshore was established in 2021 by the Farstad and Volstad families.

In January, Navigare recruited Anders Windahl from renewable energy specialist Orsted to drive its expansion into offshore wind.

Windahl will be responsible for business development and deal sourcing within the offshore wind shipping segments at the Danish alternative investment fund manager.

Navigare first invested in the wind space in 2022 after buying into Norwind Offshore.
