Another offshore vessel has been attacked by pirates in increasingly dangerous Mexican waters.

Dubai owner Telford Offshore said its accommodation and hook-up unit Telford 28 was raided on 14 April while anchored at Ciudad Del Carmen.

One crewman was injured in the incident.

The company told Offshore Engineer that the Mexican navy responded quickly and all crew are now safe.

On 12 April, a Maersk Supply Service anchor handler was reported to have been targeted by pirates in the Gulf of Mexico, TradeWinds reported.

The Maersk Transporter (built 2009) was said to have been boarded off the same port.

Unconfirmed reports said they took several crew hostage while they looted the Danish-flagged vessel.

On the same day, the 2,700-dwt platform supply vessel Remas (built 2011) was raided off Dos Bocas.

Gunmen fired at the bridge, injuring two crew members, before stealing welding equipment, helmets and diving tanks.

And a cable-layer was targeted in another incident the week before.

Attacks in the oil fields off Mexico were previously rare.

The Remas had previously been targeted by armed pirates last November in an incident that left two crew injured.
