John Fredriksen has expanded the responsibilities of Marius Hermansen, who has been appointed chief operating officer at private Seatankers Management.

The 40-year-old Bergen native started in Fredriksen-controlled Frontline in 2014 after 10 years as shipbroker in the sale and purchase department of Oslo-based Fearnleys. Shortly after, he started in Fredriksen’s management company Seatankers, based in Oslo.

Hermansen is chairman of LPG company Avance Gas and sits on the boards of Flex LNG and bulker owner Golden Ocean Group.

He is educated at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in Bergen, and has been employed with AP Moller-Maersk in Denmark.

Hermansen confirmed to the Norwegian daily Finansavisen that he has been named COO of Seatankers but declined to give further comments.

TradeWinds reported recently that a key employee in the Fredriksen Group, Harald Thorstein is departing the Group at the end of April next year.

Fredriksen and his daughters Cecilie and Kathrine have started work looking for a Group Chief Executive (CEO).

In 2015, the former Vimpelcom boss, Jo Lunder, was hired as CEO of Seatankers, but had to quit shortly after police charges of corruption.

The charges were later dropped.
