Shipowners, charterers, finance figures and carbon experts took to the stage to grapple with the big topics of the day at TradeWinds’ marquee event at Nor-Shipping.

Some 350 were in attendance at the TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Oslo during Nor-Shipping at the exhibition centre in Lillestrom, Norway.

With the backdrop of energy transition and an emerging regulatory framework to push it forward, the forum examined the ins and outs of cutting greenhouse gas emissions, carbon trading and geopolitics.

And leading names in shipping gave insight into their strategy and outlook for the future.

Editor-in-chief Julian Bray led a panel of shipping and finance leaders to examine trends in shipping markets. It was made up of six chief executives: Maritime & Merchant Bank’s Halvor Sveen, Cool Company’s Richard Tyrrell, Frontline Management’s Lars Barstad, Flex LNG’s Oystein Kalleklev, Transmed Shipping’s Nicole Mylona and Svein Moxnes Harfjeld of DHT Holdings.

A roundtable of owners, charterers and a banker explored the risks confronting the industry. Its speakers were Hafnia CEO Mikael Skov, Jan-Ole Huseby of DNB Bank, Maersk Product Tankers’ Claus Gronborg, Capital Maritime & Trading’s Evangelos Marinakis, Angelicoussis Group deputy chief executive Sveinung Stohle and Cargill Ocean Transportation global operations director Eman Abdalla.

Another panel rolled up its sleeves to dig into the risks and opportunities of the European Union’s Emissions Trading System.
