An investigation has begun after an Oman Shipping-managed tanker hit a bridge in the US.

The US Coast Guard said the Sunshine Bridge in Louisiana was closed for two hours on Sunday after it was damaged by the 46,000-dwt Dank Silver (built 2016).

WAFB cited the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) as saying the tanker hit the fender system that protects the structure.

No structural damage was reported.

The vessel was being checked for damage of its own at anchorage nearby on Tuesday.
