Fire damage to a Vroon platform supply vessel (PSV) could be substantial after a blaze in Singapore.

The incident occurred in the engine room of the 3,800-dwt VOS Primrose (built 2016) at an ST Engineering yard over the weekend, the Dutch shipping company told TradeWinds.

"There have been no personal injuries nor has there been any pollution (other than the smoke)," it added.

"It took more than 20 hours for the fire brigade to extinguish the fire so we expect the damage will be substantial."

Vroon has not yet been able to establish the source of the blaze, nor has it been able to assess the extent of damage.

"The vessel was alongside the shipyard, whilst being on-hire for a new client that was mobilising the vessel and installing equipment on deck," Vroon added.
